One of the best is not a taco restaurant, it's a taco truck usually parked in front of the Rite Aide on 118th and 3rd Ave. Fantastic tacos cos carnitas. I learned this a few months ago when, coincidentally, my wife and I did a taco tour of East Harlem with some friends: http://leviandangela.wordpress.com/2010/04/06/from-taco-tours-to-chopped-liver/Post script - La Casa de los Tacos has closed since then and reopened as La Cabana Restaurant. It seems to be exactly the same place, just a new name. But I have yet to try the tacos to know for sure.Levi
The best tacos are at Taco Mix between 2nd and 3rd Ave. How did they miss them?
Ditto. I've been a cop up in that neighborhood for 13 years, and eaten at all of them, and Taco Mix is the best.
Thanks to Gloria for the mention here, and thank you for the Taco Mix recommendations. My post was not at all meant to be an exhaustive round-up, just a fun comparison between a few different places we were able to hit that day.I've gotten several great tips as a result, and hope to do continued taste tests all over the taco world of our great city!
